Our First Virtual Chat – June 28, 2020
The COVID pandemic has compelled us to take our workshops online -so we did. ALLOVEME held its First Virtual Chat on June 28, 2020. We started with a “chat” to find out how our young ladies are getting through the pandemic and the race-based protests currently consuming our lives.
We found that we are all facing challenges and dealing with unforeseen circumstances but that we are all standing strong, learning about ourselves, tapping into our creativity and embracing an awareness that will take us to the next level. We have had to deal with the loss of loved ones, the loss of employment, financial instability, social distancing, challenges to our mental, emotional and physical health and so much more.
We are challenged with responding to and working in environments that systemically harbor racism in a new wave of “people that seem to care now”. We are angry, sad, hopeful and even happy, and remain alert and open to improving ourselves because we know that God has placed us all in our individual circumstances to bring about change to self so that we can then bring about change around us.
Thank you to Christine, Genesis, Jasmine, Kimberly, Kyndell, Mary, Nakida, Peighton and Regina for sharing your stories and experiences with us. We learn as much from you a we hope you learn from us. And to our board, Charm, Claudette, Lafaye, LeShan, Leige and Lori – thank you for your commitment and support.
We share Ms. Leige’s message to us this morning…
We can only do one thing at a time. We can only be at one place at a time. We can only help people so much. We don’t have to react to everything. All we can do is our best. We should never let the bad outweigh the good. We should always seek the Holy Spirit on who to trust and what to do. We must seek the Lord concerning all things. We must be at peace with where God has us. We must trust Him with the next move! |
